SWEDES STRUGGLE WITH (RV) BRAVES; FALL 0-3 IN SERIES

Ottawa, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team took the road to Ottawa, Kan. for a series with the (RV) Ottawa University Braves that was bumped up a day to avoid potential severe weather.

GAME 1: SWEDES 0, BRAVE 12

The Swedes struggled to get the bats going mustering only two hits in Game 1. The Braves would do most of their damage early and take this one 12-0. Jose Fajardo threw the final 2.2 innings only allowing two hits to one strikeout.

GAME 2: SWEDES 0, BRAVE 13

Again, the Swedes would only tally two hits throughout the contest. Josue Figuera hit a single and later stole a base. Rafael Perez made a heads-up play catching a line drive while also stepping on third base to record a solo double-play.

GAME 3: SWEDES 3, BRAVES 5

Bethany would jump on the board in the sixth inning via a single by Figuera to score Fernando Bones. In the ninth inning, the Swedes would apply pressure scoring two runs, but the Braves would get it together to force the final two outs and secure the season sweep.

With mid-week matchups being done, the Swedes will get the week to recover before hitting the road; this time south to Winfield, Kan. to take on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders in a three-game series over the weekend. Game 1 is set for Friday, April 25, at 1:00 PM. Game 2 and 3 are scheduled for 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM starts, respectively, on Saturday, April 26.
