SECOND-HALF SLUMP DOOMS SWEDES

SECOND-HALF SLUMP DOOMS SWEDES

Ottawa, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes took the road to Ottawa, Kansas for their first game action of the new year against the Ottawa University Braves.

The Swedes would hold strong in the first half with plenty of back-and-forth action as neither team would push their lead past seven points. Both clubs shot 15 for 37 from the field in the half, but the Braves hit one more three-pointer and four more free throws than the Swedes to take a 42-36 lead into the break.

The second half is where the Swedes started to come undone as Bethany would shoot just under 23% from the floor (including 1 for 10 from deep) mustering only 20 points in the half. The Swedes would fall 77-56.

Jamal Frenchwood would finish tied for a team-high 17 points going 4 of 9 from downtown. Maurice Cudjo II would tie Frenchwood in points with 17 with most of Cudjo's damage coming from within the arc. Ellis Todd would reel in 7 rebounds in 24 minutes of play (both career highs). Kobe Samake Krajnc would swat two Brave shots along with securing a team-high 8 rebounds.
