COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Here at Bethany College, community is one of the six core values, among integrity, hospitality, servant leadership, sustainability, and excellence.

Our Department of Athletics Mission Statement emphasizes the importance of our teams and student-athletes intentionally connecting with the greater campus community. They have done so in many ways, such as Swedes Volleyball hosting multiple Red Cross Blood Drives and both Swedes Men's and Women's Soccer running youth soccer through the Lindsborg Recreations Department. There plenty of ways our teams have connected with the community to maintain the bond between our campus and the surrounding area.

In 2023-24, the Swedes tallied over 1,500 total hours between the 15 different programs. In 2022-23, Bethany Athletics totaled north of 1,500 hours.

In the 2021-22 academic year, Bethany College Athletics teams completed over 4,120 hours of service learning opportunities.

Throughout the 2020-21 academic year, Swedes teams still recorded over 1,200 hours of service learning, despite limited opportunities due to the ongoing pandemic.

The teams in the Department of Athletics tallied just shy of 2,700 hours of service learning during the 2019-20 academic year, before the year was cut short due to COVID-19.

During the 2018-19 academic year, the Swedes athletic teams completed over 4,100 hours of service learning opportunities.
