TODD’S CAREER-HIGH 25 POINTS HELPS SWEDES SPLIT THE CROSS-COUNTY CLASH

Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes hosted the McPherson College Bulldogs in what was the Swedes last game of a three-game homestand. The last time these two met, things went the Bulldogs way in the end. This time, the Swedes would get the last laugh taking the contest 93-78.

Ellis Todd had the best game of his Bethany career. He put up 25 points including a thunderous dunk on a Bulldog that was worth of an ESPN Top-10 highlight. Todd would also reel in five rebounds and dish out two assists.

Kenny Haynes would scorch the Bulldogs with 15 points in the first half, but would settle for 17 after getting into early foul trouble. Kendall Collins put up 16 points and six assists. Devin Spencer dropped 13 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals putting him at 75 on the season. Emmanuel Akpan let his teammates cook scoring only 11 points, but also securing 18 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season. Akpan also dished out six assists and blocked two shots.

The Swedes forces 13 turnovers on the evening as six different players would record 2 steals each. Bethany would also hold McPherson to 10% (2-20) from beyond the arc and 0-8 in the second half while shooting 40% from deep as a team which is their best clip since December 4 at York University. Bethany's bench would outscore McPherson's 33-6.

The Swedes have a tough test coming this weekend as they travel down to Winfield, Kan. to take on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders in Stewart Field House this Saturday, February 8, at 3:00 PM. The Moundbuilders are on a three-game skid coming into the matchup and are sitting two games ahead of the Swedes in the KCAC standings
