Lindsborg, Kan. - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team played against the York Panthers in a KCAC conference game.
The Bethany Swedes would get off to a great start and would score the first goal of the match at the 12th minute. Joost Hermeling assisted Keino Brown who slotted the ball away calmy to put the Swedes up 1-0. Both teams were going back and forth with dangerous attacks. The first goal for the Panthers would come in the 18th minute off a quick counter-attack.
The first half was an offensive back and forth where both teams had clear chances to go up. However, it would be the Panthers that would find another dangerous counter-attack to put the score up 2-1 before the half. Despite the result the Swedes attacked much more than in their previous outings.
In the second half, a battle ensued to get another goal which would give either team the momentum in the game. The Swedes generated various dangerous opportunities, including a shot from about 40-50 yards out by William Marks that was saved by the keeper for a corner. As time went on the Swedes looked to get closer and closer to their second goal, however, a penalty in favor of the Panthers would give the chance for the Panthers to preserve their lead. It was scored, despite goalkeeper Marco Paniagua diving in the right direction.
The Swedes would go down in this match but had 10 shots in total, double the amount than in the previous two games.
