SWEDES COMPETE AT YOUNES HOSPITALITY OPEN

Kearney, Neb. - The Bethany College Men's Wrestling team competed at the Younes Hospitality Open on Saturday afternoon. The Swedes had five wrestlers at the tournament. Rocky Whitehead and Gannon Mosher were the only Swedes to pick up victories at the tournament. 

At 133 pounds, Braden Brimm lost the first match of the tournament by pinball to Doane University's Roberto Cordova in 4:19. Brimm would go on to receive a bye in the consultation round 1 and then lose in the round 2 by a 12-3 major decision. His loss came to Jose Treyes of Northwest College. 

At 174 pounds, Jacob Barnes would receive a bye in the champions round 1. In round 2, Barnes would lose by pin fall to Adams State's Diego Duarte in 2:01. Headed to the second round of consultation, Barnes would lose to Gavin Gross of Air Force by pinfall in 1:59. 

At 184 pounds, Gannon Mosher would give the Swedes their first team points at the tournament. In the champions round 1, Mosher lost to Lorenzo Esparza by pinfall in 2:18. In the first round of consultation, Mosher would win by final against Wayne State's Chris Ochoa-Villa in 2:39. In the second round of consultation, Mosher would lose 16-0 to Doane University's Chase Stieb. 

Rocky Whitehead and Christopher Walker would both compete at 285 pounds for the Swedes. At the tournament, Christopher Walker would lose both of his matches by pinfall. Rocky would be the Swedes best wrestler at the tournament making it all the way through to consultation round 4 and picking up 3.5 team points. Rocky would pick up two wins at the tournament, one by pinfall and the other by decision. His losses would be by two late pinfalls in the champions round 1, and consultation round 4.
