
T&F COMPETES IN NAIA/JUCO CHALLENGE
Pittsburg, Kan. - The Bethany College Indoor Track and Field team competed at the NAIA/JUCO Challenge hosted by Pittsburg State University. The competition was one of the biggest track meets of the year.
This was the Swedes second meet of the season as the first was in early December at the University of Nebraska – Kearney. Bethany athletes walked away with 17 personal bests, 3 school records, 1 top-3 finish and 1 event finalist.
Highlighting the day, the sprinters set some outstanding marks and school records beginning with Enoch Ojo who broke the indoor school record for the 400-meter sprint running a 49.74s allowing him to win his hear and finish in 2nd place overall. Ojo also tied the school record for the 200-meter dash (22.36s), but Cameron Gordon would walk away with the school record in the same event running a 22.03s which was good for 4th place in the meet. On the women's side, Kaylee Dixon made finals in the shot-put throwing her farthest on her final throw which was 10.48m.
Coach Yoder over the record setting performances: "Coach Smucker has done an exceptional job preparing and training the sprinters up who will be looking to continue to upward trend through indoor and outdoor season. We are right on track to hit our stride for the KCAC Indoor Championships in early February."
