SWEDES LEFT STUNNED AFTER LOSS TO THE BLUEJAYS
Lindsborg, Kan.- Bethany College hosted the Tabor College Bluejays Wednesday October 18 in a four-set contest.
Set one kick started the night with a slight lead for the Bluejays at 3-1 over the Swedes. After which both teams traded points with quick side-outs. Bethany tied up the set at 8-8. The Swedes took advantage of a few hitting errors made by Tabor and went on run at 15-11 lead by Autry Satica with two kills and Atlantis Jamerson who also had two kills and a stuff block. Bethany would continue to hold off the Bluejays and extend their lead to six points at 20-14. Tabor quickly responded and went on a four-point run to close the gap at 18-20. The Swedes would try and freeze out the Bluejays but Tabor persevered and tied up the set at 22-22. Set one was going to come down to who could outlast the other. Unfortunately for the Swedes, Tabor took the first win of the night at 28-26.
Set two was underway after both teams traded a few points with three ties, the latest tie was at 5-5. Tabor would gain a slight advantage at 7-5. The Swedes wouldn't stand for it and tied up the set yet again at 9-9. After both teams went point for point once again causing several ties, the Bluejays got hot and went on a run of five point at 17-12. Bethany called for a timeout to regroup but Tabor continued to dominate the net and would extend their lead to seven at 20-13. The Swedes chipped away at the lead and got within four at 18-22. This would be the gamechanger, Tabor closed out the set at 25-19.
Leading the night with two wins, Tabor only needed one more set win to sweep the Bethany Swedes who wouldn't go down without a fight. Set three got started with the BlueJays quickly taking a three-point lead over the Swedes at 4-1. Bethany quickly responded and tied up the set at 5-5. Once again Tabor would claim a slight lead over the Swedes at 7-5. This lead would hold for several more points traded back and forth between both teams until Bethany would tie up the set at 10-10. Neither team would allow for the other one to go on a run and the set continued to have several ties until the 15 point mark where the Swedes would gain momentum and hit the gas. The Swedes now lead the Bluejays 20-16. But Tabor wasn't done, they would go and tie up the set once more at 22-22 and yet again at 23-23. Set three was now in sudden showdown. Bethany would take the last two points and take the set at 25-23.
Set four got underway as both teams traded points and regularly tying up the set. Set four was proving to be a battle as the set saw five ties between Bethany and Tabor before reaching halfway; 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 7-7, and 11-11. Tabor hit a stride as they quickly gained a lead of three over Bethany at 16-13. The Swedes struggled to chip away at the lead before Tabor got hot and the Bluejays settled in with a seven point advantage at 21-14. This lead would be the Swedes' downfall as Tabor closed out the set at 25-19 giving them the win over Bethany 3-1.

Next up for the Swedes is Oklahoma Wesleyan University at home this Saturday October 21. JV set to begin at 1:00 PM and varsity at 2:30 PM in Hahn Gymnasium.
