Seniors give their all in the last series of the season

Lindsborg, Kan. - The Bethany College Baseball were at home to face Southwestern College in the final series of the season. The series would end 1-2 in favor of Southwestern, with many seniors playing incredibly well for the final games of their collegiate careers.

Game 1

The Swedes got off to a very powerful start to open the game. In the first inning Emanuel Alicea would hit a homerun and bring in two other runners to get the first points of the series. The Swedes would continue running up the score while Luis de los Santos kept the Moundbuilders scoreless. The Swede pitcher would only allow one earned run in the entire game thus helping the team win 12-1 in the 7th inning. Joseph Rivera would also contribute to 4 hits and 4 RBIs in this game.

Game 2

This game was not so great for the Swedes as the Moundbuilders looked to get revenge for the previous game. The Moundbuilders started off scoring but the Swedes responded soon after. The away team still was not content with their performance and fought hard to make sure that they would not leave empty handed. They would gradually continue to run up the score ending the game 3-10 in favor for the away team. Joseph Rivera stood out at bat by earning two hits during this game.

Game 3

Both teams looked to honor their senior players that would be ending their collegiate careers this season. In a very meaningful occasion for both sides only one team can come out on top. This time the Swedes led in the first inning. However, the Moundbuilders would strike back right away and gain the lead in the 5th inning. Unfortunately for the Swedes they would not get it back and the game would end 3-9. Seniors Hunter Roe and Caleb Copeland would lead the team in hits while Jonathan Crist, who was also a senior would manage to steal a base. As the Bethany seniors were subbed off in the final innings, they would be embraced by their teammates to close out their careers. A special thank you to them for all they've done for this program.

Up next…

The Bethany College Baseball team has ended their season and will be back next year stronger than ever. They gave us many exciting moments and will certainly continue to do so in the years to come!
