MOSELEY, CRIST SHINE AGAINST NO.12 EAGLES; GAME 3 SET FOR MONDAY
Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team played host to the No. 12-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles in what was supposed to be the final home series for the Swedes this season. Due to weather, the original dates of competition were split up to a doubleheader today, April 3, and a single nine-inning contest on Monday, April 7.
GAME 1: SWEDES 4, EAGLES 9
Game 1 showcased plenty of scoring as there was at least one run scored in each of the first seven innings. After falling down 0-1 in the first, the Swedes answered back by getting on the board in the second by way single up the middle by Bryce Moseley to score Danny Barker. The Eagles would score five in the third inning to take a commanding 6-1, but Fernando Bones would begin to cut into that lead with a RBI double to center field that scored Jonathan Crist. In the fourth, Ryan Smith would double home Moseley and later that inning, Crist would single home Smith to cut the Eagle lead down to two. That would be all Bethany could muster in this one as the Eagles would score three more runs to take this one 9-4.
Jonathan Crist shined as he led the Swedes in hits with three while driving in one and scoring one himself. Crist would also swipe two bases throughout the contest. The defense would turn two double plays with one in the fourth inning and another in the seventh.
On the mound, Aiden Troup would get his third start of the season, but it was Christian Gonzalez who would pitch the best lasting 3.0 innings allowing two hits and two walks while striking out three Eagles.
GAME 2: SWEDES 2, EAGLES 7
The Swedes would find themselves down 0-5 before jumping on the board in the fourth inning by way of a Ryan Smith single to right-center field scoring Bryce Moseley and Fernando Bones. That would be it for the Swedes as the Eagles would tack on two more to take it 7-2.
Moseley would lead the Swedes in hits tallying two of the five Swedes hits in Game 2. Alexander Cuevas would draw the lone walk for Bethany.
