Bio

Olan Ortiz was hired Head Baseball Coach of the Bethany College Swedes during the 2019-20 season. Since taking over as Head Coach he has led the Swedes to an overall record of 44-32 and a record of 26-18 in conference play. Previously, he had served as an Assistant Baseball Coach for Bethany since January 2015. His duties with the team include coaching hitters/infielders, third base coach, recruiting, field maintenance, throwing BP, and planning practice.

Outside of Bethany College

In addition, Ortiz also spends the summer coaching the Puerto Rico Islanders of the Empire Professional League. There, he was the infielders instructor and first base coach. Ortiz also worked for USA Baseball Fun at Bat in Mexico where he helped to introduce the game of baseball to PE teachers and elementary kids.

Before Bethany

Ortiz served as the Head Baseball Coach and League Scouting Director for the Puerto Rico Instructional Summer Baseball League. Ortiz also served as an independent scout which included writing scouting reports for MLB scouts and Independent League scouts. In addition, Ortiz served as a hitting coach and infield manager in Puerto Rico at the New York Mets Baseball Camp as well as the Happy Summer Camp.
