SWEDES 48-POINT SECOND HALF NOT ENOUGH TO OVERCOME VALOR

LINDSBORG, KAN. – The Bethany College Swedes played host to the Evangel University Valor in an early Saturday mid-afternoon contest.

The Swedes would start off ice cold as the Valor would grab a 12-0 lead to open the contest. Things would not look very promising as Bethany would only muster 13 points in the half and go into the break trailing by 22.

A completely different Bethany team stepped onto the floor after halftime. Although the Valor stretched their lead to 28 with 14:40 left to play, the Swedes would dominate the rest of the way outscoring Evangel by 17. Ultimately, the Swedes would fall 72-61.

Maurice Cudjo II would lead the Swedes scoring attack with 20 points. Jelani Moreno drew the start and tallied 6 assists (team-high) and 2 steals. Kobe Samake Krajnc led the Swedes in rebounds with 10. Jamal Frenchwood nabbed 4 steals and recorded a block.

It was a tale of two halves for the Swedes. In the first half, Bethany shot 15.6% from the floor, 11.8% from deep, and 20% from the charity stripe. In the second, the Swedes shot 53.1% from the floor, 44.4% from deep, and 75% from the free throw line. The bench provided plenty of help as the reserves totaled 20 points.
