MEN’S GOLF FINISHES 3RD IN BETHANY COLLEGE CLASSIC

Newton, Kan. – Both Bethany College Golf teams played host on the road. Kansas The Swedes hosted the Bethany College Classic at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.

On the men's side, Bethany had two team representatives. The Men's A team had a rough second round resulting in a 3rd place finish with a team score of 593 (+17). The B team finished in 11th place with a score of 669 (+93).

Oscar Hammar was consistent shooting under par for both days. Hammar placed 3rd individually with a final score of 142 (-2). Mads Hasenschwandtner finished in the top-10 (T-10) with a final score of 146 (+2). Hans Woelfel (152) and Luke Tate (153) rounded out the team scoring with T-22 and T-24 finishes, respectively. Will Briggs had a solid second day to jump up 3 places and shooting a 160 overall for a 39th place finish to round out the A team.

Daniel DeGeorge led the way for the B team with a 157 (+13) good enough for a T-33rd finish. Jaden Stewart went into day two strong jumping up 5 places to finish T-48 with a score of 169 (+25). Dylan Slusser (171) and Tim Biggs (172) rounded out the team scoring with T-52nd and T-54th finishes, respectively.

On the Women's side, the women's team did not field a team, but each athlete participated individually. Alyssa Cardenas led the way for the Swedes with 162 (+18) which was good for a T-8th finish. Elin Kennborn shot a 167 (+23) and placed 16th. Allison Applequist shot a 178 (+34) for a T-26th finish.

Head Coach Zach Able: "I am happy with the men's finish this week in a tough tournament field. I saw a lot of promising signs from the guys as we prepare for the KCAC Championship next week. The girls played very well also, and I am excited to see how they finish the season here at the end of April!"

Up Next…

The Swedes are now gearing up for postseason play. The men's team are set to start their championships April 15th – April 17th in Garden City, Kan. at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course. Play is set to begin at 9:00 am.

The women will be up the following week April 22nd-April 24th also in Garden City, Kan. at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course. Play is set to begin at 9:00 am.
