HAMMAR PLACES 2ND; SWEDES FINISH 3RD

Garden City, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Men's Golf team took the road to Garden City, Kansas to compete in the 2024 KCAC Men's Golf Championships.

As a team, the Swedes placed 3rd place after shooting a tournament low 276 (-12) in the final round to catch Ottawa University. Overall, Bethany shot 1197 over the course of four rounds.

Individually, Oscar Hammar put on a show shooting a course-best 67 (-5) in the final round for a final placement of T-2nd. Throughout the tournament, Hammar shot a 293 to finish 6 strokes behind the eventual winner.

Hans Woelfel had a rough final round that dropped him just out of the top 10 to finish T-11th. Woelfel ended with a final score of 301 (+13) for the tourney.

Will Briggs and Mads Hasenschwandtner rounded out all of the scoring for the Swedes and shot 302 (+14) and 307 (+19) for T-13th & 22nd place, respectfully.

Head Coach Zach Able: "The guys put out a really solid performance this week in Garden City. I am very pleased with their efforts through the week, even battling through tough wind conditions. Always very happy with a 3rd place finish but we need to continue improving to try and close that gap down to 1st place!"

 

This marks the end of the season for the Men's Golf team as they have a chance to take a break before training for the Fall season.
