SWEDES FACE NARROW DEFEAT TO MOUNT MARTY

SWEDES FACE NARROW DEFEAT TO MOUNT MARTY

Wichita, Kan. - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team played against Mt. Marty University in the second non-conference game of the season.

The Swedes got off to a decent start but having several attacking opportunities which ended up in nothing. Despite the strong start the Lancers would find their momentum and score the first goal of the night at the 16th minute. Zachary Hebda would be the one who would put the Lancers on the scoreboard.

Despite being down, the Swedes fought hard to get a goal back which resulted in Jarit Mejia getting a goal around the 37th minute. A strong shot to the bottom left corner would open up the score for the Swedes for the first time on the night and in the season.

In the second half a penalty was given to the Lancers which was converted by Oliver Danser. However, only a few minutes later Jarit Mejia would get another goal for the Swedes and bring back the momentum on their side.

In the 62nd minute the Lancers would strike again with a good set-piece opportunity to put them at the top of the scoreboard. Both teams went back and forth with missed opportunities throughout the night.

At the end of the match the Swedes would push their way forward and start to shake their opponents. Joost Hermeling would score a goal that was controversially called back for offside. Unfortunately, this would be the last play of the game as the Swedes would lose 2-3.

Up next…
