MEN HANDLE USM 7-0; EARN FIRST KCAC VICTORY
Lindsborg, Kan. - On April 1, after some scheduling flip-flops, the Swede Men played host to St. Mary's at the Lindquist Tennis Center.
The doubles started the Swedes off with a point, picking up wins from #1 Matt Lucas/Zeke Mumford (7-5) and #2 Daniel Lozano Machado/Franco Hernandez Colman (6-2) as well as a default win for the #3 team of Carlos Rodriguez Rivas/Cayden Danzer.
Following doubles, five singles matches began play simultaneously. Each of the Swedes playing singles was able to pick up victories, leading to a 7-0 team victory for the Swedes.
Singles Results:
#1 F. Hernandez Colman - 4-6, 5-0 Withdrawal
#2 D. Lozano Machado - 1,1
#3 Z. Mumford - 0,5
#4 C. Rodriguez Rivas - 1,2
#5 C. Danzer - 2,1
#6 Brody Rosenow - Default
Head Coach Thomas DeWitt: "We came into this match expecting to get a team win, and I thought our guys did what they needed to do. I thought we were a little sloppy in places, but the guys focused when they needed to and we were able to get the sweep at home. I'm excited to see Cayden pick up his first KCAC victory. He's going to be a good player for us, and we'll build on this. As a whole, the team will need to be sharper tomorrow, but I think we largely escaped today without exacerbating injuries. Quick turnaround, but we're ready for it."
