30 PERSONAL BESTS IN COYOTE CLASSIC
Salina, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Track and Field Teams wrapped a two-day competition on Saturday, April 19, at the Coyote Classic in Salina, Kan. hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University. The weather panned out for Saturday as the meet avoided the rain while temperatures climbed to have some of the better conditions all season, although Friday was a bit chilly and still a fair amount of wind.
This was a great prep for the KCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University in two weeks. The Coyote Classic showcased the hard work and grit that Swedes have shown all season.
Overall, the Swedes came out and executed on their performances with 30 overall personal records (PR) and one event Champion. Friday allowed for two throwing events and then a Distance Carnival under the lights starting at 7:00 PM. Head Coach Aaron Yoder and his staff were pleased with how the team competed as every one of the student athletes for the Swedes had some form of personal improvement and progress.
Freshman Dylan Brice had the lone event victory winning the pole vault in challenging winds with a jump of 4.35m (14'3") and, later on, ran a two second PR in the 200m with a time of 22.90s. Junior Kaylee Dixon went three-for-three on her PRs in the throws and Freshman Ashton Joseph was four-for-four hitting PRs in all four throws.
