SWEDES HOST UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY FOR SENIOR NIGHT

SWEDES HOST UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY FOR SENIOR NIGHT

Lindsborg, Ks. - The Bethany College Men's Wrestling team hosted University of Saint Mary on Thursday night. This conference dual was also senior night for the Swedes seniors Kaden Goff and Chase Pywell. Unfortunately forfeits were the theme of night on both sides as there were only 5 weight classes competing on the night, the final team score was 12 to 38. At 125 pounds there was a double forfeit, at 133, 141, and 157 pounds Bethany forfeited, and at 197 pounds Saint Mary forfeited to Chase Pywell.

At 149 pounds, Kaden Goff lost to Austin Almaguer TF 18-2 in 2:09. From the beginning Austin Almaguer controlled the entire match. Goff tried everything he could but Austin gave him no chances to take him down. It was senior day for Kaden and the fans were there rallying behind him but just did not have his best stuff to compete with Austin on the night.

At 165 pounds, Jacob Barnes would lose by pinfall to Jackson Jones in 1:48. Jackson came out early and was able to get Jacob down on the mat with no trouble. Barnes tried to make a move to get out but unfortunately Jackson responded by pinning him.

At 174 pounds, Jesse Gardner battled really hard but came up short, losing on a 11-7 decision to  Maxx Demann. It looked like early on the match would be leaning in favor of Demann but Gardner would always find a way to get it within a few points. In the last seconds of the match, Jesse was down 9-7  and made a move to try to get Demann down to the mat but missed the shot and Demann took advantage of the move and was able to get him down to bring the final decision to 11-7.

At 184 pounds, Gannon Mosher lost by pinfall in 2:27 to Gabe Chesbro. At the beginning of the match Gannon and Gabe were neck and neck until Gannon had to stop the math due to blood. After the delay, Gabe was able to get Gannon on his back to pin him in 2:27.

At 285 pounds, Rocky Whitehead had the best match of the night. Can make an argument that this was one of his better performances of the year. Rocky won by pinfall against Cody Adams in 0:37. Cody was able to throw Rocky down on the mat, but in one fluid motion Rocky bounced back up to get in a position to where he was able to pin Cody in just 37 seconds. It was a very athletic move by Rocky and was able to end the dual off on a good note for the Swedes.

Up next…
