VANDE VELDE PLACES IN KCAC WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Kansas City, Mo. – The Bethany College Swedes took the road to Kansas City, Mo. to compete in the 2025 KCAC Wrestling Championships hosted by Avila University.

Triston Vande Velde was the highlight for the Swedes placing sixth in the 184lb bracket. Vande Velde opened up with a loss to Marcus Grist of Ottawa University (MD 22-13), but followed that with wins over Cameron Campos of York University (Fall 2:56) and Kendric Gordon of Avila University (Dec. 4-1). Unfortunately, Triston Vande Velde lost his next match to Jason Bowers of Friends University (Fall 5:27) leading to his rematch against Grist for fifth place in which Vande Velde would lose by fall (0:44) and ending in sixth place for the bracket.

This marks the end of the Swedes wrestling season. Now, the focus for the Swedes is to finish strong in the classroom while taking some time to rest up from a long season.
