Atchinson, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes were on the road in Atchinson, Kan. to take on the #20 Benedictine College Ravens for a Sunday showdown.
Game 1: The first inning was quiet as neither team would garner a hit. The Ravens would then jump on the board in the second and third innings with two runs in each and follow up with one more in the fourth. Maggie Heath put the Swedes on the board in the fifth inning singling home Ulissa Rivas and Vryah Morgan to cut the deficit to three. With their backs against the wall, the Swedes would show promise in the seventh inning. Rivas led off the inning with a single up the middle. Following two fly outs, Heath would send one up the middle for a single advance Rivas to second. Abigail Nitzel would step up and get drilled by an errant pitch to load the bases while also leading to a pitching change.
