SWEDES SUFFER SUNDAY LOSS TO OTTAWA

Ottawa, Kan.- The Bethany College Swedes were on the road, Sunday, April 6^th at Ottawa University, taking on the Braves in a rescheduled weekend double header that started at 1pm.

Game 1: The first game was slow going for both teams as it came down to two critical plays mid-game. Both plays came from the Braves who scored a run in the bottom of the 3^rd inning and 4^th inning giving Ottawa the lead, 0-2. The Swedes tried to recover but couldn't gain enough momentum in time. The final score was 0-2, with the Braves taking Game 1.

Dylann Baker started in the circle for Bethany and faced 26 batters and threw 62 strikes out of 95 pitches.

Game 2: Heading into the second game, the Swedes were determined to rewrite the script and walk away with the split. However, the Braves were once again in control after scoring two runs in the bottom of the 1^st inning, 0-2. Bethany looked to regroup but Ottawa continued to keep the Swedes off the board. Bottom of the 5^th inning, the Braves scored again making the score, 0-3. The Swedes looked to launch a comeback late into the game but Ottawa extended their lead to five after scoring an additional two runs in the bottom of the 6^th. Final score; Swedes-0, Braves-5.

Jordyn Stelzig was on the mound to start for Bethany in Game 2 and faced 21 batters and threw 49 strikes out of 91 pitches before being relieved by Ayianna Revels. Ayianna Revels faced 6 batters and threw 8 strikes out of 23 pitches. Paris Hammer finished in the circle for the Swedes and faced 3 batters and threw 8 strikes out of 17 pitches.
