SWEDES ON THREE GAME WIN STREAK AFTER DEFEATING YORK

York, Neb.- Bethany traveled to York University, Wednesday, January 17th. The Swedes went into the match with a conference record of 6-4 and the Panthers with a record of 2-7.

1st: Slow start for the Swedes who just came off of a huge win against Tabor College. York took the early lead in which Bethany would tie at 5:54 on the clocking at 6-6. Swedes were shooting below 30% this quarter and would only go on to score a total of 13 points in first. End of the quarter, the score was 13-12 in favor of the Swedes.

2nd: Both teams would find their rhythm in the second quarter, almost doubling the points made from their first quarter. The Panthers were first to gain traction and managed to create a six point advantage over the Swedes within the first two minutes. Bethany would however respond by getting within two of York after a three pointer by Kisa Unruh, 20-22 with 6:36 left to play. Followed by a layup by Jaden Newfarmer which resulted in a three point play after a successful free throw, which put the Swedes ahead by one, 23-22 with six minutes to play. Neither team was ready to give in and were going point for point with one anther with several ties and lead changes until Bethany created a small lead within the last minute of the half to lead by four, 38-34.

3rd: The Swedes would go into the third quarter hot with Jaden Newfarmer quickly extending the lead to six after a successful jumpshot. This would fire up her team to further add to their lead. Bethany would find themselves ahead by eleven within the first minute of the quarter, 45-34 with the help of Kisa Unruh. The Panthers weren't ready to give up and fought their way back into the game but not until the 4th quarter. The Swedes dominated the third quarter, shooting 61% and scoring 29 points. The score at the end of the quarter was 67-59, the Swedes up by eight.

4th: Despite being outscored by York, 28-26, Bethany would continue to challenge the Panthers who were working to overcome a deficient. The Swedes were still shooting above their average at 43.8% for field goals and 50% for 3-pointers. At the halfway mark, York came within six of the Swedes at 68-74. Bethany continued to respond and wouldn't the Panthers break through the deficient. Both teams shot lights out as the quarter was winding down which continued to add points to the board but final score was 93-87 in favor of Bethany.

Notable stats include, a double-double for Lauren Gleason who had 13 rebounds and 14 points, R'Manie Pulling with 20 points and 2 steals, Jaden Newfarmer with 7 rebounds, 13 points, 3 assists, 1 block and 4 steals, and Kisa Unruh with 13 points and 1 steal.
