TOUGH DEFEAT FOR THE SWEDES IN BARTLESVILLE

Bartlesville, Okla.- Bethany was on the road at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, taking on the Eagles, Saturday, Jan. 27th. The Swedes came into the contest with an 9-4 conference record while the Eagles came in with a 4-9 conference record.

1st: It was a rough start for the Swedes who found themselves down 2-8 at 6:28 on the clock after struggling to hit shots. The Eagles extended their lead to seven, 4-11 with just over four minutes to play in the first quarter. Bethany tried to chip away at the lead but still finished the quarter down by seven, 10-17.

2nd: The second quarter belonged to Oklahoma Wesleyan who would outscore Bethany 7-22. The Swedes were shooting at 25% and weren't able to keep the Eagles from scoring. Oklahoma Wesleyan extended their lead to eleven, 19-30, with 4:38 left to play in the quarter. The Swedes wouldn't score again in the half and went into halftime down by twenty-two, 17-39.

3rd: The third quarter began as the Swedes were trying to make a comeback. Bethany would improve their shooting percentage in this quarter with 45.5% and outscoring the Eagles, 13-11. Unfortunately, the Swedes would still find themselves at a deficient heading into the fourth quarter. The score at the end of the third quarter was 30-50, in favor of the Eagles.

4th: Down by twenty, Bethany was looking to overcome the deficient in the fourth quarter but the Eagles would secure a victory over the Swedes, outscoring Bethany 12-8. Final score was Bethany 38, Oklahoma Wesleyan 62.

Notable stats include, Jaden Newfarmer with 8 points, 3 assists, and 8 rebounds, Emily Green with 7 rebounds and 4 steals, R'Manie Pulling with 2 steals and 6 points, Lauren Gleason with 6 points and 4 rebounds, and Kaleigh O'Brien with 5 rebounds.

Bethany will be hosting the Bethel College Threshers, Wednesday, Jan. 31st in Hahn Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm.
