Bio

Sarah Bartel was promoted to Head Women’s Basketball Coach for the Bethany College Swedes in May 2023. During her first season at the helm, Sarah lead her team to a 15-14 record (13-9 in the KCAC) resulting in a 6th place finish. Bartel coached 5 All-KCAC honorees that season. 

Before taking the reins, Bartel was the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach for the Swedes as well as a Resident Director and Administrative Assistant for the Athletics Department from June 2021 – April 2023. Prior to working for Bethany, Sarah was an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach as well as Student Life Manager and Assistant Director of Student Life at Coffeyville Community College from August 2019 – May 2021.

As a coach, Bartel helped turn the basketball program around at Coffeyville, helped the Swedes finish 2nd in the KCAC in the 2022-23, and has a pair of 20-win season under her belt as an assistant. Sarah has coached one NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and has won a team Champions of Character award.

As a player, Sarah helped lead her team to a 2nd place finish in the KCAC in 2017-18 in which the team also won their first playoff game in several years. Bartel was a two-year captain and won a Champion of Character award as a senior.

Sarah Bartel has earned her Associates of Science at Independence Community College (2017), her Bachelors of Arts in Exercise Science at Bethany College (2019), and her Master of Health and Human Performance at Fort Hays State University (2021).

Sarah is married to Zach Able and resides in Lindsborg, Kansas.
