SWEDES STRUGGLE IN BETHANY COLLEGE CLASSIC
Newton, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes took the I-135 down to Newton, Kan. to host the Bethany College Classic at Sand Creek Station. The women's team competed two individuals while the men competed with two full teams and two individuals.
Women
Allison Applequist finished in 29th place shooting a 196 (+52). Her best round was round one where she shot a 92 (+22). Ekko Hopkins was the only other women's golfer for the Swedes placing 35th.
Men
Between the two full teams, the B team outplayed the A team by one stroke (+99 compared to +100). On the B team, Filip Hjerten and Aiden Lynch tied for 30th place both shooting a 238 (+22) through all three rounds. Taylor Hardin placed 34th but finished just one stroke behind Hjerten and Lynch shooting a 239 (+23). Jacob Handt rounded off each round of scoring placing 43rd with a 248 (+32). Dylan Slusser finished with a 259 (+43) to round out team B.
On the A team, Will Briggs was the highest placing Swede at 21st with a 234 (+18). Daniel DeGeorge was next shooting a 239 (+23) for a 34th place finish while Mads Hasenschwandtner (242) and Luke Tate (249) placed 37th and 45th, respectively. Hans Woelfel had to bow out in the first round due to injury.
On the individual side, Oliver Christopher was the highest scoring Swede placing 40th with a 245 (+29) while Tim Biggs placed 50th with a 258 (+42).

It's championship time!! The women's team will travel to the Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, Mo. to compete in the KCAC Women's Golf Championship from April 21 – 23. The men's team will get a three-week break before traveling down to Garden City, Kan. on April 28 – 30 to represent Bethany College in the KCAC Men's Golf Championships.
