WOMEN'S TENNIS NOTCHES FIRST KCAC WIN OF SEASON; MEN FALL TO 0-2

Lindsborg, Kan. - On March 27, the tennis teams hosted Sterling College in their KCAC Home Opener.

The Doubles teams started the day as usual. On the Women's side, the Swedes were able to win the doubles point with victories from #1 Jahzuena Bradshaw-Douglas/Piper Marquez (11-9 score) and #3 Tia Gregory/Riley Ahlstedt (7-4). Both matches were decided in tiebreakers, adding some tension to the early part of the day. On the men's side, the Swedes were swept by the visiting Warriors.

Following singles, the Swede men were unable to secure enough points for a team victory. Their highlight of the day came from #5 Matt Lucas in a decisive 3,3 victory. The Swede women were able to secure their first KCAC win of the year, finishing with a 5-2 team score. The women picked up victories at #1 (J. Bradshaw-Douglas - 3,3), #3 (Sofia Castillo Paz - 1,3), #4 (P. Marquez - 1,0),  and #5 (T. Gregory - 5,3).

The Men drop to 2-7 (0-2 KCAC) while the Women's record improves to 4-6 (1-1 KCAC).

Coach DeWitt after the matches: "I'm obviously really excited with how our women played today. Getting two tight victories in doubles really jumpstarted our day, and the girls really too care of business in their singles matches after that. I wasn't happy with the men's result, mostly because of mistakes. I think we left some points out on the court that we'll need to learn from moving forward. However, it is good to get Matt and Franco back on the courts with us. We're obviously a better team with them in the lineup. Hopefully both teams use today to mentally get ready for tomorrow and then Evangel on Friday."

The Swedes travel to Doane tomorrow and then reengage with new KCAC member Evangel at home on Friday, April 31st.
