
SWEDES FACE SETBACK VS TIGERS DESPITE STRONG DOUBLES PERFORMANCE
Crete, Neb. - In a challenging non-conference match held on April 3, 2025, in Crete, Neb., the Bethany College Swedes women's tennis team faced a tough 2-5 loss against the Doane University Tigers. Despite the defeat, the Swedes showcased resilience and strength, particularly in their doubles matches, securing two of the three contests.
The standout performances came from the doubles teams of Bethany College. Makenna Russom and Kyla Metro triumphed with a 6-3 victory over their opponents Liz Calderon and Grace Schroller. Additionally, Ana Sofia Castillo Paz and Helen Harbit delivered a strong performance, winning 6-4 against Isabella Castillero and Kat Johnson. These victories highlighted the Swedes' capability and teamwork in doubles matchups.
In singles, Helen Harbit also stood out by rallying to win a grueling match against Grace Schroller with scores of 3-6, 7-5, 11-9. Her tenacity in singles, coupled with her success in doubles, marked her as a key player for Bethany College during the event.
