SJOGREN QUALIFIES A-STANDARD AT EMPORIA STATE RELAYS
Emporia, Kan. - The Bethany College Track and Field Team wrapped up the two-day meet at Emporia State for the Spring ESU Relays. The Swedes came away excellent marks and were able to see how they stacked up against DII competition. Still battling some wind, the Swedes overcame and had a total of 23 personal bests, one event finalist and one A-Standard national mark.
Freshman Dylan Brice had a good day jumping 4.47m (14'8") and finishing 4th overall in the Open Pole Vault which was good for the top finish for the Swedes. Kort Sjogren had another great day making finals in a stacked Javelin field good for another personal best of 67.22m (205'11") and also hit the automatic qualifying standard.
Head Coach Aaron Yoder: "We were pleased with how the teams competed in a two day competition. We will travel back to Emporia to compete in the Midwest Classic and then another two-day meet at Kansas Wesleyan. We will wrap up the season with the two-day KCAC Championships in Salina, Kan. These meets really help to prepare us for the post season and gives us more opportunities to do more events and spread it out for two days. This was the first meet with the whole team and we will looking to add more athletes the next two meets.
