TWO SWEDES CAPTURE GOLD; SWEDES COMPETE IN KCAC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Salina, Kan. – The Swedes took the road to Salina, Kan. to compete in the 2025 KCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University.

There was much to celebrate from this meet as the Swedes walked away with 19 personal bests, four KCAC All-Conference Honorable Mention performances, two event finalists, two event champions and 1 national qualifying B-standard mark. The men's team was also named the Team Champions of Character for the second time this year.

"A close location was a good for the Swedes! Overall, the season had a lot of high points and a great display of progress and improvement," said Head Coach Aaron Yoder. "Moving into next year with what will shape out to be a historical class. Building off of what we did this year and our returners we have solid foundation we will spring board off. "

Leading the charge and starting the first day of events was Kort Sjogren in the javelin throw. He came away with the win and was also good for another national qualifying mark with a throw of 59.37m. ON the track, Cheyenne Sawyer qualified for the finals in the 100m hurdles in her first time running the event.

"Kort showed up and threw smart and still setting up for a good performance at Nationals in a couple weeks. This got the momentum going for the Swedes," said Coach Yoder.

Day two was Dylan Brice's time to shine as he was perfect in vault attempts until 4.70m. His jump of 4.55m gave him the win for the meet. Three of the five relays for the Swedes earned All-Conference honors, showing improvement from the indoor season.

"We are pleased with how the season ended and are excited to upcoming fall start," said Coach Yoder. "Thanks to the amazing staff for coaching up the student athletes and all the support we received from family and friends throughout the year."
