SWEDES SUCCUMB TO BULLDOG SWEEP
Lindsborg, Kan. - Bethany College hosted the McPherson College Bulldogs, Wednesday, October 16th, in Hahn Gymnasium. Unfortunately for the Swedes, it would be a short night as the Bulldogs went on the offensive and got themselves a clean sweep.
Set 1: The Swedes quickly found themselves playing from behind as the Bulldogs took an early lead that they would hold onto for the entirety of the set. Bethany was within reach of McPherson at the 5-8 mark but the Bulldogs would go on a run that would devastate the Swedes. Final score of Set 1, 13-25, McPherson.
Set 2: Similar to Set 1, the Bulldogs would open the flood gates at the 4-8 mark and would continue to steady control the game. The Swedes fought back and came within two, 8-10, but it wouldn't change the shift in momentum that was in McPherson's favor. The Bulldogs extended their lead to seven, 10-17. Bethany again tried to chip away at the deficient and would be within three at 15-18, but it was short-lived. McPherson would take Set 2, 17-25.
Set 3: The final set of the match got kicked off in identical fashion to the first two sets as the Swedes were down by three at the 4-7 mark. McPherson pushed points and extended their lead to six, 10-16. Bethany tried to come back but the Bulldogs weren't having it and the set finished, 17-25 in favor of McPherson.
Notable stats from this game include 8 kills and 2 blocks by Autry Satica, 18 digs by Michelle Acevedo Ortiz, 3 service aces and 9 assists by Liyah Huynh. Also notable, Michelle Acevedo Ortiz earned her 1,000th career dig.
