
BETHANY BATTLES BLUEJAYS IN 3-1 VICTORY
Hillsboro, Kan. - Bethany College was on the road, Wednesday October 23rd, at Tabor College to take on the Bluejays in a weekday matchup. The match would extend to an extra set before the Swedes were able to come out with their first conference win, 3-1.
Set 1: The first set kicked off with an early lead by Tabor who was up by three, 4-7. However, the Swedes wouldn't allow that to stand for very long as they went on a scoring run and took the advantage at 9-8. From there both teams would fight over every point, only allowing the other to have a one-point advantage before siding-out. The set was tied at 19-19 when Bethany would take the advantage and lead 23-21. Tabor managed to tie up the set at 23-23 and then again at 24-24. Win by two, the Swedes lined up to kills back-to-back to take the set at 26-24.
Set 2: The second set would swing in favor of the Bluejays after they managed to go on a run at the 10-10 mark. The Swedes found themselves down by five at 13-18. Bethany tried to gain the momentum but couldn't in time. Tabor takes the set, 19-25.
Set 3: The Swedes flipped the script from the second set and started with a lead over the Bluejays, 12-6. Tabor would fight to get back into the set and even came within one at 14-13. But Bethany wouldn't give up and fought to go on another run to lead by four at 18-14. The Bluejays would once again try and make a comeback but the Swedes shut the door on that after taking the set 25-19.
Set 4: Quickly into the set, the Swedes were down by four at 1-5 where they were fighting to cut the deficient. The tide would turn after Bethany managed to tie the set up at 8-8 and would go on a run themselves. Tabor was now down by six at 17-11. But this wouldn't be the end of the Bluejays as they fought to tie up the set at 20-20. From there both teams were fighting for every ball but Tabor managed to gain the advantage and led, 22-24. The Swedes weren't discouraged and kept the Bluejays from scoring again in the match after going on a four point run to take the set and the match, 26-24.

Up next, the Swedes are on the road at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Saturday, October 26th, facing the Eagles starting at 12:30pm for JV and 2pm for varsity.
