SWEDES COMPETE IN THE TERRY MASTERSON TWILIGHT CLASSIC

Lindborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Cross Country team competed at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic on September 1st, 2022 amongst a mix of junior colleges and fellow NAIA institutions.

The women's team was led by junior Elyse Boden who ran 22:13 and placed 92nd in a field of 142 athletes. Shortly after Boden was senior Zoe Auld at 23:06. The women's team did not have enough runners to qualify for a team score.

On the men's side, freshman Kelton Kern led the Swedes with a time of 23:58 to finish 102nd in a field of 191 runners. Sophomore Jackson Wallace finished right on Kern's heel at 23:59 to finish 104th. As a team, the men finished 16th out of 19 teams.

Head Coach Aaron Yoder: "This was good opener for the Bethany College Swedes Cross Country team. At this point last year, we would have had a long pre-season and one competition under our belts. Looking at how we competed, in tough competition I felt like this was good start. A good reminder is that it isn't how you start but how you finish. One great take away is that we had 8 of our runners better their time trial times from our first team trial run we did on our first week of training. We have all of our training geared to run all of our best performances in October and November. I am confident this will be a great year for both the Women's and Men's Cross teams."
