SWEDES COMPETE IN GREAT PLAINS CHALLENGE
McPherson, Kan. - The Bethany College Swedes Cross Country teams competed in the Great Plains Intercollegiate Challenge hosted by McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas.
This was an outstanding day for the Swedes as they return to McPherson for the Great Plains Challenge. The conditions were perfect Saturday morning and the Swedes capitalized. The overall results speak for themselves as the Swedes walked away with 11 seasonal bests, 10 course bests, 7 lifetime bests and 8 athletes medaling. The women were once again led by junior Elyse Boden who placed 11th and finished in 22:15 good for seasonal best. The men were led by freshman Ayden Summers who placed 20th and finished in 28:23 good for a lifetime best.
"This meet showed the hard work that the Swedes have been putting in and we are confident in continued progress as we look at the last month of training and competing," said Head Coach Aaron Yoder. "I was very impressed with how we competed today as every single runner hit their seasonal best. We have had two hard weeks of training, but the Swedes persevered and produced great results today. We will take next week off and return to action at the conference course in Winfield for the Naia Mid-states Classic. We will then return to Winfield on Nov. 5th for the KCAC Championships on the same course. We are right were we need to be in training and will be planning a big peak for the post-season. This was a good indicator that the team is locked in and hungry."
